You aren’t alone.  We all go through it.

It creeps up on you when you least expect it and you don’t even know why.

It’s not necessarily unhappiness or lack of gratitude.  Your life can be going alone fine, but then one morning you just wake up and feel like you’ve got nothing left to give.

You feel deflated.  Like a balloon that has lost it’s air.

Sometimes you know what triggered it.

Maybe it’s hormones.  Maybe it’s health problems (yours or your loved ones).  Even the weather can impact our mood.  As can sad events like loss and struggle.  Or even happy ones like a move or having a baby.

All of the sudden, it feels like you’re in a different place.  Like there’s an invisible barrier, or a pane of glass, between you and all the happy people.  When you’re in, you can’t find your way out.  When you’re out, you can’t fully remember how you got in.

You want to connect, to go back to the world where people have energy and smiles, but it feels like too much effort.

And you don’t have it in you to put forth effort.  Life feels heavy.  Most of the time, you push through.  Sometimes you try to numb the pain with food or substances or Netflix or sleep.  Other times, you’ll do stupid things, even self-destruct just to feel SOMETHING.

As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression and low mood, I want you to know that I see you.

 I recognize what you’re feeling and acknowledge it for what it is.

This is a time for you to take care of yourself and recognize what is happening.  It is a time for you to have faith that the gray storm will eventually pass.

It WILL get better.  Sometimes it just takes time.  Sometimes you need medical help or a therapist.   Especially if the days of feeling like this turn into months

Other times you need an intervention – an outside source to inject some new vocabulary into the conversations you are having with yourself.  That is where I come in.  I want to help you change the things you’re telling yourself.

I’m not a doctor.  I’m not a therapist.  I am the hand reaching out to show you a path.

The path I want to take you on is the one that led me out of the darkness.

Listen, all of us get down sometimes.  Life is crazy bumpy for all of us.  I used to get down a LOT.  It was almost a state of being for most of my teens, my 20s and my 30s.  Now at 44, I’m happier (and healthier) than I’ve been in my entire adult life.

I wake up every day with energy and purpose.  Even when life knocks me down, I don’t feel the weight that used to keep me there.

This is thanks to a multitude of strategies that I want to share with you.  With that in mind, with YOU in mind, I dreamed up the Mood Makeover™.

What is the Mood Makeover™?

The Mood Makeover™ is a means of me supporting you via videos and emails and texts that I hope to serve as guideposts.  The Mood Makeover™ is a way for me to teach you what I have learned through my own struggles.

For example, I learned that unexplainable low mood is often a symptom of diet.  Therefore, in the Mood Makeover™, I will gradually teach you which dietary strategies can and WILL help your brain to feel healthy again.

Meditation is another simple method of adjusting you back to who you really are.  As is our environment, our relationships, and even the music we listen to.  Through the Mood Makeover™ I want to help you with all of that.

I want to be there to help you to stand up, brush yourself off, get centered, and keep moving forward.

I want to help you get back on your feet and guide you through the baby steps to that space where you can finally breathe again.
